INNER CITY SOCCER -  Tournament Rules - Updated Dec-2023

PLAYER REGISTRATION: All players must be registered on their teams' registration form before the tournament begins. Any team or player determined by the event director to have falsified age or skill level will be dismissed from the tournament. All players must carry proof of age, ie: player pass, driver’s license or birth certificate.

ROSTERS: All rosters are final upon completion of the team's third game.

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: There is no limit in the number of players in the roster.

GENDER: No males will be allowed to participate in any female divisions, except co-ed division. Females CAN play in male divisions. Co-ed division must have at least one female on the field at all times.

EQUIPMENT: All players must wear shin guards. Any player without shin guards will not be allowed to play. Teams are responsible for providing game balls. Preferred Ball Size for Under-8 and younger= #3; Under-09 to Under-12= #4; Under-13 and up = #5. In the event that age divisions are combined, the teams should use the older division’s ball size.

FIELD DIMENSIONS: They will be specify by STYSA regulations, except in 5v5, which is stipulated in the 5v5 rules section.

GAME DURATION: This will be determined in the tournament's offial website. Pool games tied after regulation play shall end in a tie. Playoff games cannot end tied.

OFFSIDE:  There are no offside in 5v5 games or indoor games.,  There are offisde for the rest of the games.

HEADING:  It will be permitted for all age groups except for Under-10 games.

PLAYOFF OVERTIME: There will no be additional time in games where a winner must be determined.  The game will go directly into penalty kicks if there is tie at end of regular time.  In games of indoor, 5v5, 7v7 and 9v9 the winner will be determined by 3 penalty kicks.   In 11v11 games, the game will go 5 penalty kicks.

SCORING (IN POOL PLAY): 3 points for a win; 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss. FORFEITS: A forfeit is scored as 3-0.

TIEBREAKERS: In pool play, ties between two or more teams will be broken by; 1)  points; 2) goal difference in pool play; 3) most goals scored for in pool play; 4) head to head results between tied teams; 5) coin flip.

THREE YARD RULE: In all dead ball situations (indoor and 5v5 games), defending players must stand three yards away from the ball. If the defensive player's goal area is closer than five yards, the ball is placed three yards from the goal area in line with the place of the penalty.

Other INDOOR RULES: no slide tackles are allowed. .All re-start are indirect except penalty kicks. On re-starts, balls cannot be lifted on the air, it must re-started on th ground.

PLAYER EJECTION (YELLOW/RED CARD): Referees have the right to eject a player from the game for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants sending the player off. RED CARD suspension = Rest of game.. Tournament Director may eject player for rest of tournament.

RED CARD in indoor games: The team must play short for 3 minutes and the player who got a red card may not play the rest of the game.

FORFEITS: A forfeit shall be scored as 3-0.

SPORTSMANSHIP: Players, coaches and spectators are expected to act in the nature of good sportsmanship at all times. Abuse of the referees will not be tolerated. Any instance of such conduct will disqualify the responsible team from the event.
